For those of you who are completely lost right now, this blog post, and this KnowYourMeme page will help. If you are too lazy to do that, here’s a short summary: ESPN posted an image on their website and in their magazine that was a facial re-rendering of the Philadelphia Eagle’s(my team) quarterback Michael Vick, where he was white. It wasn’t long before the internet replaced his head with everything from the face of Steve Urkel, to a chocolate ice cream cone. As an internet nerd who uses GIMP, I am obligated to make one. I might make more and upload them to flickr.
What is this? a GOTD? This is like a once in a lifetime experience!

How do you like my sketched look? Would it be better if I used a sketch tablet or actually drew it? Does that even count? This is really simple, I took a brush and made it small as it goes. Would it be better if it had a pattern to make it look more pencil-y?
What about the paint-ish look? I have tried to make things look painted before and ultimately failed, but this time I combined smudging and other techniques to make it more legit. I think it either looks really good or really bad. I’m not sure.
This actually wasn’t my idea, but the original was made in MS Paint, so I feel no guilt. Well, I should feel guilty even if I did think up such a terrible pun, let alone finding it funny enough to copy.
I simply took the Dell logo (Trademarks go to Dell) cropped, rotated, and motion blurred it before putting an image of a seabed underneath it. If you did not pick up on the pun, let me Google that for you.
This was sorta supposed to go with yesterday’s GOTD, but It turned out as more of a cartoon, and less photographed. Still good though. I tried to make the tree more than one color, but it didn’t come out the way I wanted. I really do enjoy the monochrome(ish) theme, it adds character and wasn’t really planned. The way that this relates to yesterday’s wallpaper is that the sun is the actual eye, or source of light, and the moon is just sort of a mirror or indirect source of light/camera(just like science). The stars are blacked out in one area of the screen, and it is supposed to read “night”, but there wasn’t enough contrast and I couldn’t fix it(it was supposed to match the “day” text in yesterday’s image). Enjoy!
This is the first ever wallpaper sized GOTD. Don’t worry, I will still make 640×480 sized pics, but I’ll throw these in now and then, just to spice things up. This is the GOTD for Tuesday, June 8 ( a few hours late), I skipped Monday to make up for the days I’ll miss next week during Youth Camp, just to get a three day buffer. I will also be skipping Friday, June 10, and Monday, June 13. At least isn’t all at once. I will upload Wednesday’s GOTD shortly.

I have always kind of wanted a different layout, and I really like this one, but, I may switch back. I made the background myself. The trick to making the background work was lowering the brush opacity, not the layer opacity. Pages are in the top right corner, widgets haven’t moved.
New pages
I added two pages! One is a contact form which you can use to privately contact me, if you don’t already know my email. The other page is the “other” page, no, I did not just say the same thing twice. It is a page for my other projects. The first one is my Graphic Design service, which isn’t very serious at this point, I am not exactly sure how much I would charge. See the page for details.
The second item is boom1.xcf, a gimp image that has five edited images of explosions, designed to be copy pasted onto any image. Version 1.1 is currently in development with the itinerary of a Micheal Bay sequel, “Bigger, More explosions, bigger explosions”. Boom1.xcf was used in my most recent GOTD, and will likely be featured in other projects.
The other project listed is the “other” projects, it currently only has one link, but as my other projects develop, more will start showing up.
GOTD posts
I have always had trouble with my GOTD page, the one with the gallery. I found out there is a WordPress feature that makes galleries for you, but they have to be uploaded to that specific page or post where you use the gallery, for you to put them into that gallery. So I re-uploaded all of the GOTDs and put them in that gallery. Then I went through the GOTD posts and swapped out and deleted the old copies. I took this opportunity to apply the new format I’ve been using to my older posts, just for some consistency.

Calvin and Hobbes: The movie
…it’s… beautiful!! This is the kind of the thing I “intellectually” debated about when I was six(it usually resulted in claiming who’s parents were older and thus smarter)! This picture took a long time of me saying “Oh, wait! I could add that!” to something that started as a over the top as it was picture of two dinos battling on another planet. This image features the following:
A cyborg T-rex with a mini-gun
A magical kung fu velociraptor that can fly
A stealth jet blowing stuff up
A monster truck in a tornado
A space shuttle launch on a cliff-side
Saturn and it’s moons.
There is so much more I could have added, but (luckily?) I only had 640×400 to work with. Almost every image was either under a Creative commons license or in Public Domain.
Embarking on GOTD was almost as impossible(no pun intended) as Sufjan’s fifty states thing. SO, my new goal, is to produce two or three Gimps a week, but only until June 3rd, my last day of school. During summer break I will post every weekday, when I can. Not just whenever I remember or when I feel like it. Heck, I might even get a buffer for when I need to miss. So, anyway here is the fourth installment, of GOTD

¡Viva la Revolucion! Is it just me or does this look awesome? I don’t mean to sound cocky but I just love how this came out! The tower is just a polygon with a red spot and a marble pattern. the sky is just blended colors, and the ground is a rock pattern. I stole the silhouette from iStockphoto (sssh, don’t tell!), and the text is in a custom font a got from Dafont (masterplan). The crumpled paper look is just a Crumpled paper pattern blended over-top of the image. I made the charred edges from erasing down, and painting the edges with a Dark brown gradient.
If you can’t tell it’s supposed to look like propaganda promoting the revolt against some form of oppressive government. One that is centered in the pictured tower. Now, if you will excuse me, I’m off to listen to Muse.
Crap! I missed a whole freaking week of Gimp of the Days! My bad! I originally planned on saying that i have been busy with wedding stuff because my brother is getting married, but that would be bull spit. I am not the best at committing to things. creative, school, or money earning, I never remember to do things, or put them off until I’m done… doing nothing? I dunno, I am just lazy(I don’t mean that as an excuse, it’s a deadly sin[one of the seven]).
Well, if you enjoy my Gimp of the days, I have some bad news for you, my brother is getting married on Saturday. So I will be busy for real this week. I’ll try to keep up!
